General description

logo_tu.png

TUDO was established in the 19-sixties and has 24,000 students and 3000 scientists. TUDO participates in a lot of research-projects: In FP6 in about 25 projects of which 3 were coordinated by TUDO. Moreover, TUDO is currently involved in almost 30 FP 7 projects (3 projects total budget of 11.5 Mio. are coordinated by TUDO). Furthermore TUDO coordinates projects from other programmes (Leonardo, Comenius, Tempus). TUDO takes equal opportunities and environmental issues into consideration in employment and research activities and develops its operating practices. The Institute of Spatial Planning (IRPUD), established at TUDO, has conducted a large number of research projects on urban, regional and national planning problems, with a focus on Europe.

Key competences and facilities

IRPUD owns extended competences in spatial planning on the various spatial levels. This includes broad knowledge about planning and decision theory, methods, instruments and tools including GIS techniques. A special focus lies on spatially oriented risk management and climate-proof planning. Moreover, IRPUD conducted several studies on governance and communication issues and owns therefore aside engineering competences also skills in societal sciences.

Key persons

Prof. Dr. S. Greiving (Team leader, risk governance and risk planning)

Dr. M. Fleischhauer (climate-proof planning)

M. Angignard (risk governance)

Previous training programs and research

ESPON ‘The spatial effects and management of natural and technological hazards in general and in relation to climate change’; FP6 ARMONIA, FP6 MIDIR, FP6 MCRTN ’Mountain Risks’; BMVBS MORO, BMBF ILEWS, FP7 MOVE, 2009--2012 ESPON "Climate change and territorial effects on regions and local economies (coordinator).
